We were busy with many activities during the 1st quarter of 2002.  Our computer classes continue to be very popular.  For a complete listing of our courses please go to www.aworkforce.org/lcn/computerlab.html

AFWD Service Coordinator, Tammy Bedillion holds weekly orientations, which introduce attendees to the wonderful services provided by Lassen Career Network and partnering agencies.  Candy Radcliff, AFWD's Youth Coordinator also holds weekly orientations for area youth.  Thursday afternoons at 3:30 is the place to be for youth aged 14-21.  Please visit www.aworkforce.org/lcn/index.html for our Calendar of Events or call 530-257-5057.

We continue to provide outreach to those affected by the Collins Pine temporary closure.  While most of those affected are in the Plumas County area, we are serving approximately 20 in Lassen County.  AFWD's Employment Specialist, David Mowbray and Program Coordinator Robin Padgett, spent 2 days a week at the Chester ABC Center providing services to those affected by the temporary closure.

Business Resource Center

The BRC was a busy place the past few months.  The Sierra College Small Business Development Center (www.sbdcsierra.org) continues to provide counseling 3 days a month.  The number of businesses utilizing the resources has increased dramatically.  We helped many local businesses update their handbooks so that they are in compliance with the many new changes that took effect January 1, 2002.
