Business Services - Pathways to Success

Website Technology Class Held September 5th

The Alliance for Workforce Development, Inc. (AFWD) held another website technology class on September 5th. After attending the website training sponsored by NoRTEC in July, Laurie Wann and Cliff Bannister were ready to make the big leap and teach the class. They were able to provide one-on-one assistance, ensuring that the businesses published at the end of the class. One of the attendees was unable to publish because he had to attend to a business matter prior to the end of the class. For those that did not publish, follow-up is being provided to ensure they publish.

The following is a list of the businesses that did publish:
Sharron Watkins, Certified Bookkeeper
Soroptimist International of Susanville

Julie Bustamante and Brenda Vicondoa from Sorportimist International of Susanville work on their website.

On July 23rd, a summer thunderstorm came through Lassen County leaving behind several inches of rain. So much rain fell in such a short amount of time, the storm drains could not hold all of the water. The Lassen Career Network sustained flood damage. While there was a substantial amount of water that came through the building, we did not lose any equipment. To view the pictures, click here

Sunrise Rotary Presentation Focuses on Business Service Offerings

On July 15th, I had the opportunity to speak with the Sunrise Rotary Club about the many business service offerings. I also conducted a brief survey about what types of workshops they would be interested in attending. The results of this survey, along with other survey's conducted over the summer, were instrumental in helping our BEST team in deciding what workshops to host over the next year.

Customer Service Spectacular for Diamond Mountain Casino

Janis Trueblood and Laurie Wann from the Alliance for Workforce Development, Inc. presented a "spectacular" 3 hour customer service training to the management team of Diamond Mountain Casino on September 23rd. It was a pilot class provided to the management team at no charge. Provided the management team approved of the training, it would then be presented to all 100 employees of the Casino for a fee. This was our first attempt at marketing this as a fee-for-service.

The pilot class was a hit and as a result of the wonderful presentation given by Janis and Laurie, the Casino has asked us to present the training to all of their employees.

Another one of Lassen County's larger employers, Northeastern Rural Health Clinics, Inc., has asked us to present the Customer Service Spectacular to their staff. Laurie and Janis will present the workshop on October 28th.

Maternity Leave

I will be taking time off for the new addition to my family. My husband and I are expecting our first child, a little girl. We are anxiously awaiting her arrival, hopefully near the end of October. While I will have my hands full, I will miss working with our team. A big Thank You to the team for all of your help over the past 9 months. Laurie Wann will be handling things while I am on leave. Thanks Again and I will see you all next year!!

Having Fun in the Workplace

Staff at Lassen Career Network utilize the FISH! philosophy, of being serious about our work, yet being serious about ourselves. Here is an example of the "Fun" we have. EDD staff member, Wayne Bienkowski is greeted by the infamous birthday chicken.
