I, Amee Albrecht, HR Consultant was very fortunate to attend the Annual Society for Human Resource Management Conference in Chicago this year. I attended the conference with other AFWD staff members Holly Schirmer, Bobbi Moore, and Dianna Simar. The conference was very informative and had great speakers. The featured speaker was Sidney Poitier who was absolutely wonderful. Some of the other classes we attended were Enjoy the Ride speaker Steve Gilliland, Compensation Updates for HR generalists speaker Sharon Koss, and Punch up your presentation speaker Regina Clark. This conference was a wonderful educational experience and I feel very greatful to have the opportunity to attend.

All Staff at Bailey Creek
Once again AFWD offered a wonderful training retreat for their staff. Modoc, Sierra, Plumas and Lassen counties came together for training at Bailey Creek near Lake Almanor. To begin the three day training Mary, Chris, Athea, Holly, Leslie and Diana had training with Betti Austin on getting the Youth program on track for the 08/09 year with the new program standards. The rest of the staff showed up for the next two days for updated training on adults and to go over company procedures and policies. We all enjoyed each other’s company in the evening having BBQ’s in our cabins with social chats getting to know each other as inviduals instead of just long distant co-workers. What a great retreat! Thanks AFWD for a wonderful training.
