CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING

AFWD facilitated Customer Service Training for two area businesses using basic principles from the FISH Philosophy. This interactive workshop explores the amazing team work that can result when people are committed to their jobs and team members. Participants learned how to take accountability for their own attitude, discovered how it affects those around them, and discussed tips for maintaining a positive attitude and dealing with negative people.

The first training was for Subway and was held on October 29, 2008. Nine employees attended the two hour training. AFWD facilitated the training for Desert Rose Casino on November 12 & 13, 2008. They had 39 employees attend the two hour training. The feedback that we received from the employees and supervisors was very positive and everyone really enjoyed the training.

Youth Program Update

Modoc Youth going to College

Modoc Youth going to College

Modoc has four youth that have been preparing for college for the 2009 spring semester. Now the time has come and they are ready to start their college path January 12, 2009. Jessica Chacon will be studying Administrative Justice and receive her AA and then would like to transition to becoming a Police Officer. Pedro Chacon, Irvend Chacon and James Chinn all have been enrolled into the Mechanics Program and they will receive an AA when completed. AFWD’s Youth Case Manager Mary Martin and the youth have been going to Redding the last few months getting ready for this transition, making sure they had all their financial aid taken care of, meeting with the school councilors and dorm room availability. AFWD has facilitated workshops on Job Searching, Life Skills (which included budgeting and personal care), Interviewing, What Employers Expect, and Customer Service to prepare them for their journey on their own.

The Modoc Employment Center is proud of these youth for continuing with their education through our Youth Program Services.
